How to extend your rental

What it costs

When the clock starts
The rental clock starts at delivery. On the 3-day rental, a Friday delivery at 10 AM runs through Monday at 10 AM. The same idea applies to a 24-hour rental and a 7-day rental: the end is a length of time after the drop, not a calendar day you pick later.
Extend, or book the longer rental up front?
The math often lands on the same price. A 24-hour rental is $300. Two extra days are $30, so the total is $330, the same as booking the 3-day rental. A 3-day rental is $330. Four extra days are $60, so the total is $390, the same as the 7-day rental. If you already know the job will run that long, book the longer rental. How to swap a full dumpster for an empty one

Contractors and repeat swaps
Crews that fill a 20-yard more than once are better served by a recurring plan. See recurring swaps for contractors. Homeowner swaps on this page are one-off. The price is the same open question either way until we confirm it on the call.
Weight on a swap
Every rental includes 1 ton. Extra weight is $45 per ton, prorated, on the total weight of that container at pickup. Whether the next container includes its own ton is not confirmed. Call or text (605) 937-5430 to arrange it. Heavy loads — concrete, dirt, roofing — are the ones that cross 1 ton.
A replacement still has to be delivered. Weekday dumpster delivery before 2:00 PM is covered on our same-day dumpster delivery page. A swap's own arrival time is not confirmed here.

How to end your rental early

Pickup day: what to expect
Customers ask what time the truck comes on the last day, and whether the morning is still free for loading. The rental runs a set length from delivery. The clock example above is the confirmed part. The pickup window on that last day is not confirmed. Call or text (605) 937-5430 to arrange it.
Leave the same access the driver used for delivery: about 22 ft of straight clearance and 23+ ft of overhead clearance, with the spot clear of vehicles. Do not load above the top rail. Banned items are listed in what can't go in.
Other charges that can change your total

Extensions and permits
In Sioux Falls, a dumpster in your own driveway does not need a city permit. A construction dumpster left on a city street for more than 24 hours needs a $15 permit from the City Engineer, posted on the container. An extension can push a street placement past that 24 hours. Plan the permit before you add days on the curb.
Tea requires a placement permit for every dumpster, including one in a driveway, applied for at least 3 working days before delivery. How long that permit lasts is not confirmed.
